For the last couple of months, we have been regularly updating you on all the news introduced by Act No. 634/1992 Coll., on Consumer Protection, as amended.
This time, we would like to address a frequently asked question about consumer product instructions. Under the "old" legislation, the "paper form" of consumer product instructions had to be attachedto a product (where the nature of the product allowed it). While businessesstill remain obliged to provide consumers with product instructions, due to the development of digital technologies, this no longer needs to be in a written form.
A written form of consumer product instructions will continue to be provided at the consumer's request, unless it is unreasonable with respect to the circumstances. In all other cases, consumer product instructions may be provided on another permanent data carrier, for example by e-mail. The business cannot simply refer to its website when asked for the consumer product instructions; the consumer must be able to download and save them.
